Dear Art Friends,

I am extremely happy to be chosen for the final of the artist of the year. It feels like a great appreciation for my work.
Because I spend most of my time between the four walls of my studio, it is so special to experience that my sculptures communicate outward, because that is precisely what I hope will happen.

Foundation “Kunstweek” organizes the annual Artist of the Year. Due to the large-scale design of the election, it contributes to the recognition of visual art and the prominence of Dutch visual artists. In addition, the election provides a time picture of Dutch artists.

The election by a hundred art connoisseurs is subdivided into three rounds. Ultimately, this leads to the 8 finalists. More information can be found at: kunstenaarvanhetjaar.nl.

On Friday 9 November, the winner of the honorary title Artist of the year 2019 will be announced at the opening of the Art Week.
